Hello Everyone, just slightly updated the guide for some tips for basic marksmanship skills, different weapons, and equipment basics.
Rules of Survival is a realistic shooting game. Although the game is not absolutely balanced and perfect, your wisdom and teamwork can help you to survive. You need to make good judgement and choose within an instant.
To win the game is not as easy as you imagine, a number of factors will affect the results of a match. Though good marksmanship skills may not let you win the game, they play an important part. RoS is not just a shooter, every match requires tactics, good judgement, quick thinking, and often a good bit of luck.
Here are some more details!
Firstly, how to improve the marksmanshipskills for a regular novice player? Of course, we have many methods to improve, and you'll definitly need time to practice. This time we'll talk about marksmanship skills, although you may not win the game with them alone, it will definitly help you. To improve the skills, you'll need to practice as well as developing strategy and tactics when dealing with other players.
- The best option is to practice in Solo Mode to practice. Then you can land in some popular places such as Echo Valley, Defense Fort, and bigger cities near the flight route of the drop. After landing, just grab a weapon and start taking down enemies to practice. With 30-100 hours training, within no time you'll master the art of marksmanship. Practice makes perfect ;)
For practice, you need to find one kind offirearm that is most suitable for you, along with knowing their distance to damage effect:
- We'll start with common Pistols: The damage caused by pistols is a bit low at around 27 HP in the 10m to 30m range, and 79 for headshots! You cannot hit the target over this range, and it cannot be equipped with a scope.
- Next is Submachine gun: From its name you would notice that this gun is for close combat because it features high coverage with spray shoots, along with small recoil and high accuracy. The damage caused by an SMG is around 27 HP as like pistols within a short distance, and a headshot is again 79 HP per shot. There is only slight damage if the target is out of this range. For further distances, the damage of a headshot is around 30 HP and 10 HP for other body parts.
- Rifles is the most stable: 24 - 27 HP damage and 59 - 69 HP damage from a 200 - 400m distance. It can kill enemys with only one shot within 100m with damage of 30-40 HP.
- Shotguns can easily shoot-to-kill within a short distance, but only cause 3-9 HP damage for further distances, so they better are better off early in-game when weapons are limited and your more likely in tight areas stocking up.
- Finally, Sniper Rifles: most players think that sniper rifles are only good for long distance combat. Well, I picked up a sniper rifle without a scope attached before an enemy came within a short distance of me. I quickly aimed and fired and he was down with one shot. For AWM, the damage is 59 HP, can kill enemies in one or two shots. In 20-40m, shoot-to-kill that is for sure with a Head Shot. For Barrett, no doubt about it, shoot-to-kill in any distance!
Attaching the proper Scope can mean the difference between shooting at the air and taking down squads across the valley.
Let’s a look at the usage of different scopes according to type:
- Holo-sight: Targets within 100m can be seen clearly within the scope which can assist your aiming. In short range battle, it does not highly rely on your accuracy because of the wide field of view when using this scope, which helps for spray shots. The main disadvantage is not as much magnification and accuracy.
- Red-Dot Sight: Wide field of view with a red dot, which can help you with high accuracy shots in short range battle. Disadvantages compared to Holo-sight, you'll need a higher stability for the gun and keep aiming at your enemy by the red dot in the scope.
- 2x Scope: Similar to Holo-sight and Red-Dot. I prefer Red-Dot. As the battle goes on, you'll need to take a 2x scope for a better visual range. The targets within 200m can be found by 2x Scope, and the aiming point is added after update. (much better for a SMG and using single shot)
- 4x Scope: This is the most popular scope in this game, it has longer visual range. You probably can win the game if you pick up one (of course, good skills are needed), you can make single long range shots without any damage by enemies who are far away. You can also carefully scan for enemies by using this scope (4x scope equpped on a Rifle is recommended).
- 8x Scope: For a normal player, 8x scope is very difficult to handle. It is hard to shoot a running target through 8x scope because of its long visual range. Also the recoil of 8x scope is relatively large, you cannot control the stability at a along distance. (8x scope is most suitable for Sniper Rifles, Highly Skilled players can make good use of it)
Hope you enjoyed this revised guide, see you next time!
